Fieldale School Apartments

The former Fieldale High School was built in 1941 and is included in the Fieldale Historic District in Henry County, Virginia. This Georgian Revival-style brick school is adapted into 23 unique apartments, each featuring historic elements preserved from the original schoolhouse. The original wide hallways of the schoolhouse, with original murals above the lockers, are restored along with the existing auditorium space, now provided for use by tenants and the local community. The work was designed to satisfy the requirements of the National Park Service’s Standards for Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings and the project was partially funded with historic tax credits.
